Our Purpose
Malden Warming Center, Inc. is organized exclusively for charitable purposes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future tax code.
(a) The purpose of MWC is to serve those adult individuals experiencing homelessness (guests) by providing safe shelter and warmth during the winter months, recognizing each person’s inherent dignity and unique circumstance.
(b) Without limiting the generality of its charitable purpose, the MWC:
i. Provides temporary night center (“Center”) services for those adult individuals that are homeless. It is a safe place of warmth during the harshest winter months.
ii. Welcomes all adult individuals who are experiencing homelessness, including those who are experiencing active substance abuse, and provides healthy meals, drinks, personal care facilities, camaraderie, warm clothing and toiletries to comfort our guests.
iii. Works to connect guests to needed services including permanent housing, substance abuse treatment, and physical and mental health services.
(c) The MWC trains and uses community volunteers who are compassionate and committed to assist its Center guests by providing room monitoring services, food preparation services, clothing distribution services, and other comfort services.
